Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) Dutch painter, known for self portraits and scenes from the bible. He is considered to be on of the greatest painters in the European history. Rembrandt painted in details, he captured the person's personality and emotion on the canvas and even add fency clothes to the person in the portrait. When you look at most of his portraits it feels like the person in the painting is looking straight at you and with the light and shadow he created a mood to the painting. The Nightwatch is his most famous painting, a large portrait of 14 feet long and close to 12 feet tall, even at this painting, originally men were lined up in a row, same clothes and size, but he thought it was boring and added that each man will be in different clothes, different colors and doing something different. Even though his paintings were very popular at his time, he still had money issues because he spent most of it on collecting art and other items.
