Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) French Impressionist painter, one of the most famous artists of the early twentieth century. Renoir was one of the founders of the impressionist movement, best known for his pleasant paintings and love of the female curvy figures. His art wasn't political or had murals, it simply wanted to create joy and pleasand scenes. In his studio he met with Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet and other young artists. Renoir and Monet produced the first landscape paintings in the impressionist style. After Renoir died, two of his paintings were sold for over 70 million dollars each.
